Corneliu Toader has been a Neurosurgeon with the Neurosurgical Department, National Institute of Neurology and Neurovascular Diseases, Bucharest, Romania, since 1992. He is also an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Medicine, Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest. During his career, he has operated on more than 15000 patients. His surgical activity consists mostly of cerebrovascular pathology, mainly intracranial aneurysms (over 8000 patients), but he also operates on arterio-venous malformations, brain tumors, cranial base tumors, and spinal pathology. In 2009, he was named the Chief of the National Institute of Neurology and Neurovascular Diseases. His topic of research includes brain, feedback, medical disorders, neurophysiology, patient rehabilitation, visual evoked potentials, and visual perception.
Alexandru Vladimir Ciurea is a Romanian neurosurgeon and the Head of the first neurosurgery department within the Clinical Hospital “Bagdasar-Arseni.” He set up the Neuroscience Research Department of the “Bagdasar-Arseni” Clinical Hospital and led and was involved in almost 20 national and international research projects. He is a Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila,” Bucharest, PhD supervisor. He performed more than 25,000 brain surgeries, half of them on children. He was the president of the Romanian Society of Neurosurgery for 8 years (two terms). He is a board member of the international journal World Neurosurgery. He has published 38 books, the most important being the “Treaty of Neurosurgery.” He was the manager of the “Bagdasar-Arseni” Hospital for 6 years. He has been a Grade I Scientific Researcher since 2009. Between 1999 and 2011, subsequently, from 2014 until now, he has been the president of the National Commission of Neurosurgery of the Ministry of Health, a role in which he was responsible for the implementation of the National Curriculum of Neurosurgery and the creation of the specialization “Pediatric Neurosurgery.” Since 2 February 2022, he is an honorary member of the Romanian Academy.
