Radu Claudiu Fierascu has a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering and is currently a
Senior Researcher (1st degree) at the National Institute for Research and Development in Chemistry and Petrochemistry–ICECHIM Bucharest, as well as serving as the Technical Director of the institute. His main research interests include the development of new organic and inorganic materials with potential applications in the field of cultural heritage, as well as archaeometry studies. He coordinated (as project manager or partner responsible) several research projects on this topic (over 500,000 EUR). His habilitation thesis (defended in 2019) included several examples regarding the development of new
nanomaterials with potential applications in the field of cultural heritage conservation. He is a special editor of several special issues, a member of the Editorial Board of national journals, as well as a reviewer for multiple prestigious journals.
Irina Fierăscu is a scientific researcher (CS1) at INCDCP-ICECHIM Bucharest with competencies in analytical chemistry (different modern analytical techniques), nanomaterials (obtaining and characterization), nanotechnology, materials science, archaeometry, superior use of natural resources (obtaining and using natural extracts), photosynthesized nanomaterials, environmental protection, etc. Her Ph.D. is in Material Engineering, and she has followed postdoctoral programs in Industrial Biotechnology and Environmental Engineering. Her habilitation thesis covers “Capitalization of autochthonous vegetal species: from biomedical applications to nanotechnology”. She is the author/co-author of several papers published in prestigious ISI journals (more than 80) in the field of natural extracts, nanomaterials, and photosynthesized metallic nanoparticles (especially gold and silver nanoparticles), as well as
the author/co-author of 12 books/chapter in books. She has experience in managing projects with topics of international relevance and the application of nanomaterials in different fields: environment, agriculture or conservation/restoration of cultural heritage artifacts. She has won different awards from government
institutions or other prestigious institutions in the field.
Miruna S. Stan is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Biology, the University of Bucharest. Her scientific interests include Biochemistry, Toxicology, Nanoparticles, and Biomaterials. One of her projects is 'Analysis of the interactions between nanoparticles and biomolecules to understand the role of nano-bio-interface in predicting nanoparticle behavior and effects on biological'. The objective of the present project is represented by the complex analysis over time of the interaction between nanoparticles with different characteristics (chemical structures, sizes, surfaces) and biomolecules (proteins, lipids and nucleic acids).
Ionela C. Voinea (Cristina Nica) has been a Research Assistant at the University of Bucharest since 2016. She received her Bachelor's Degree from 2020 to 2013, her Master's Degree (Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) from 2013 to 2015 and her Ph.D. in Biology from 2015 to 2019 at the University of Bucharest. Her research interests include nanomedicine, biomaterials, toxicology, biological response, tissue engineering, and materials characterization.
