Prof. Dr. Renato Cannizzaro is an
Associate Professor of Gastroenterology at the University of Trieste and
Director of the Oncological Gastroenterology Department at Centro di Riferimento
Oncologico (CRO) IRCCS, Aviano, Italy. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery and
specialized in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy at the University of
Padua. Responsible for numerous current and finalized research projects of the
Italian Ministry of Health, his main research activities focus on the
prevention, diagnosis, and therapy of precancerous and primary and secondary
neoplasms of the digestive system, hereditary genetic syndromes of digestive
tract cancers, and diagnostic and therapeutic digestive endoscopy. He is a
member of the Meeting of Members of the United European Gastroenterology (UEG)
and the Advisory Council of the European Society of Digestive Oncology (ESDO).
Past President of the Italian Federation of Societies of Diseases of the
Digestive System (FISMAD), he is now Head of the Colorectal Cancer Screening
Working Group at CRO. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the
Regional Network for Rare Diseases in Friuli Venezia Giulia and of the Board of
the Pordenone Medical Association.
Dr. Valli De Re is a Director at CRO
Centro di Riferimento Oncologico di Aviano. She graduated in Biology at the
University of Trieste and specialized in Biomedical Technologies at the
University of Bologna. She is in charge of the bio-proteomics facility and
responsible for the calculation of risk scores for adenocarcinoma and gastric
neuroendocrine cancer, identification of CDH1 gene variants, and typing of
Legionella pneumophila isolates identified at the Regional Agency for
Environmental Protection of Friuli Venezia Giulia (ARPA FVG). Her research
studies are applied to the biology of cancers of the gastrointestinal tract and
Hodgkin’s lymphoma, with a focus on infectious and autoimmune-related agents.
