Antonio Stecco is a world-class authority on soft tissue and
especially the fascial system. He is now an assistant professor at Rusk
Rehabilitation, New York University. He completed his Ph.D. studies in Medicine
and Surgery, specializing in Physics Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University
of Padua. He collaborated with his sister, Carla Stecco, MD, and authored
“Fascial Manipulation for Musculoskeletal Pain” (Piccin, 2004). The publication attracted
worldwide attention, from myofascial therapists to bodywork instructors. The
authors based their model of therapeutic techniques on thousands of hours of
anatomical cadaver research. His scientific activity is devoted to studying the
human fasciae from macroscopical, histological, and physiopathological points
of view. Since 2007, he has organized and personally taught theoretical and
practical courses about the fascial manipulation method on all five major continents.
Since 2008, he has been on the Scientific Committee of the Fascial Manipulation
Association, which brings together researchers interested in studying diseases
of the fascia and myofascial origin. He is the author of more than fifty papers
about the extensor in fasciae, a co-author of five books, and the co-author of
several chapters of international texts published by Elsevier.
