Prof. Dr. László Vécsei is a professor of Neurology and head of the Neuroscience Research Group at the Albert Szent-Györgyi Clinical Center, University of Szeged, Hungary. He graduated with an M.D. from Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical University (currently the University of Szeged) and was then awarded his C.Sc. in the behavioral effects of neuropeptides and his D.Sc. in the pathogenesis of neurological disorders. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Lund, Sweden, and received a fellowship at the Department of Neurology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. He was Chairman of the Local Arrangements Committee of the 15th EFNS Congress (Budapest, 2011). He has been awarded the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic, the Middle Cross at the President of the Hungarian Republic, the Commemorative Medal of the Albert Szent-Györgyi Clinical Center at the University of Szeged in 2019, and the Markusovszky Lajos Medal at the Markusovszky Foundation in 2020. His interests include the pathomechanism of neurodegenerative disorders, headache, multiple sclerosis, and novel therapeutic strategies.
