Renee J Turner is the NRF Director of Neurosurgical Research and head of the Translational Neuropathology Laboratory within the School of Biomedicine at the University of Adelaide. Her research is focused on improving the translation of novel treatments and technologies from pre-clinical studies into the clinic, through the development and use of clinically-relevant models of stroke. She is actively involved in science communication and community outreach and has a long-standing affiliation with the Neurosurgical Research Foundation.
Frances Corrigan is an Associate Professor of the Medical Sciences and a research-active member of the Discipline of Anatomy and Pathology, School of Biomedicine at the University of Adelaide. After completing her PhD in 2011, investigating neuroprotective agents for traumatic brain injury, she undertook local (UofA) postdoctoral training, gaining research expertise in models of psychiatric disorders. She currently leads the Head Injury Group within the School of Biomedicine, investigating both the short- and long-term effects of traumatic brain injury, the role of exogenous factors such as sex and age, and how to intervene to prevent long-term consequences. She is a member of the Australian Society of Medical Research, Australian Neuroscience Society, and International Neurotrauma Society.
