Vincenzo Mirone is an Italian doctor who specializes in urology, general surgery, and andrology. He is a Full Professor of Urology at the Federico II University of Naples, the Director of the School of Specialization in Urology at the same university, the Head of the Functional Area of Urology and Urinary Lithotripsy of the Federico II University Hospital of Naples, the Secretary General of the Italian Society of Urology, the Chairman of the European Urology Scholarship Program (EUSP), and a faculty member of the European Association of Urology. Furthermore, Prof. Mirone is President of the Ethics Committee of the ProSud ONLUS Foundation, which deals with prevention and research in the oncology field, dedicated to the particular regions of Southern Italy. His surgical activity focuses on oncological pathologies (prostate cancer and bladder cancer in particular) and andrological surgery, for which he specializes in nerve-sparing surgery for prostate cancer and radical surgery for bladder cancer with orthotopic urinary diversion, as well as in penile prosthetic implantology and transsexualism surgery. He has experience in basic research on male and female sexual dysfunctions; in particular, his collaboration with the Nobel Prize winner for medicine Luis Ignarro is remembered. He is the author of over 100 international scientific publications.
