Tao Zheng graduated from the Cavendish Laboratory of the
Department of Physics, University of Cambridge, UK, and was the first Chinese
student in the history of the Biological and Soft System research group. During
his studies in the UK, he published several important academic papers,
patents, and international conference presentations. In 2011, he joined the
School of Biological and Pharmaceutical Engineering at the Nanjing University of
Technology as a professor. He established the Bioenergy Research Institute at the Nanjing University of Technology (NUIST) in 2012 and became the director of
NUIST. He has been a Research Fellow at the Guangzhou Energy Research Institute
of the Chinese Academy of Sciences since August 2015. He has been working on
cross-disciplinary research in biochemistry, bioelectrochemistry, materials
science, etc. In terms of application, his main directions are in the fields of
biomass energy utilization, bioelectrochemical synthesis, and green extraction
technology of natural products. He has presided over and participated in more
than 20 national, provincial, and municipal projects, including the national “863”
project, the national “973” project, and major consulting and research
