Dr. Changhai Tian is an Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He earned his PhD from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and then started his postdoctoral training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, focusing on neuroimmune interaction and stem cell-based cell therapy in neurodegenerative disorders. He has now expanded his research to the cardiovascular and extracellular vesicle fields and works on investigating the underlying mechanisms by which the heart communicates with the brain in the pathogenesis of heart failure and neurological disorders, especially the role of extracellular vesicles in inter-organ communications during disease progression. His research was funded by the AHA Career Development Award (CDA) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) R01 Award.
