Xiang-Yu Hou is a Principal Research Fellow at the UQ Poche
Centre for Indigenous Health. She was trained as a doctor in China and an
epidemiologist in Australia. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine from
Shandong University, a Master of Medicine from Peking University, and a Ph.D.
from Queensland University of Technology. She has worked as an academic
researcher in universities in Australia and overseas, as an Academic Dean in a
private university in NSW, as a Medical Affairs Director in a USA company, and
as a Program Manager in the Queensland Health DG’s Office. She has published
over 100 research papers and book chapters. Her research interests include
behavioral epidemiology, social epidemiology, health system research, health
program evaluation, emergency medicine, paramedicine, and mental health. Her
current research focus is on Indigenous Health. She is a friendly, supportive,
and experienced supervisor in training Higher Degree Research (HDR) students
and early-stage researchers in epidemiology. She is currently available to
supervise new HDR students in health research regarding Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander Peoples living in urban, regional, and remote Australia.
Snezana Stolic has more than 24 years of clinical experience in cardiac nursing, working in cardiac wards, cardiac catheter theatre, cardiac surgical intensive care, general intensive units and coronary care. She has worked at many hospitals in Brisbane and Townsville. For the past 16 years, she has been working in academia, working in universities in QLD and NSW. In 2004, she completed a Master's in Applied Science where she evaluated an acute pain service for people following cardiac surgical patients. In 2016, she completed a Doctor of Philosophy titled “A randomized control trial of a symptom management education package for People with acute coronary syndrome”. She provided 100 patients with an education package on how to manage their symptoms of angina and 100 patients received usual education on the medication glyceryl trinitrate. She is on the Cardiovascular Expert Node Group Panel for the Joanna Briggs Institute and on the Centaur Memorial Fund for Nurses executive committee. She is a member of the Council of Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professionals, the European Society of Cardiology and has published articles, written textbooks and presented at many domestic and international conferences. She has peer-reviewed for several international and domestic journals.
