Univ. Prof. Dr. med. Prof.h.c. Dr.h.c. Raymund E. Horch is a Professor of Plastic and Hand Surgery with Board certifications in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery, Hand Surgery, and General Surgery. He is the Director and Chairman of the Department of Plastic and Hand Surgery and Head of the Laboratory for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, University Hospital Erlangen, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuermberg FAU in Germany, where he has been officially appointed as a tenured Professor since January 2003.
He has received numerous prestigious scientific awards and merits, including honorary doctorates and professorships, and was appointed as a honorary member of the Romanian Academy of Science, served as the President of the German Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, and in the presidium of the German Society of Surgery DGCH. Since 2010, he has been a spokesman of all Surgical Departments of the University Hospital Erlangen and a vice speaker at the SFBTRR 225 Biofabrication. Clinically, he covers Plastic and Hand Surgery entirely, including Aesthetic Surgery and Microsurgery. His main research interests are tissue engineering, biofabrication, microsurgery, and wound healing. He has pblished numerous scientific papers, several books (currently >500 PubMed listed peer-reviewed publications and >250 non-peer-reviewed publications, book editions, and book chapters, reviews etc.). His current Hirsch factor is 43.
