Dr. Alaa El Din Mahmoud is an Assistant Professor in the Environmental Sciences Department, Faculty of Science at Alexandria University, Egypt. He received his bachelor's and master’s degrees from Alexandria University and his Ph.D. degree from Friedrich-Schiller University Jena, Germany. His research focuses on interdisciplinary environmental issues: sustainability, waste valorization, water/wastewater treatment, circular economy, machine learning, and green nanotechnology. During his career, he was a visiting Assistant Professor at Temple University (USA), the University of Texas at Austin (USA), and Shanghai University (China). Dr. Alaa El Din Mahmoud has been awarded the Alexandria University Award for Academic Encouragement in the scientific field and the Best Young Researcher Award for his scientific contribution from the RanBal Research Institute & Bentham Science. Furthermore, he was awarded the Fulbright Award (2021), "German Academic Exchange Service; DAAD Award" for conference and lecture travel abroad in two consecutive years (2018 & 2019), Misr El Kheir Foundation award for postgraduates (2014), and the "Young Scientists Award" from UNESCO-MAB program (2013). Dr. Alaa El Din Mahmoud has published more than 55 peer-reviewed international research articles & book chapters. He is an editor for several books with different publishers. Moreover, Dr. Alaa El Din Mahmoud is involved in many collaborative funded local and international research projects.
Esraa Mostafa graduated in 2021 with an excellent honors degree from the Faculty of Science at Alexandria University, Egypt. She specializes in Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. She is currently working as a teaching assistant in Chemistry since 2022.
