Author Biographies

Francesco Buonfiglio graduated in July 2014 from the School of Medicine of the Federico II University in Naples, Italy, with the highest grade (110 Lode). In 2015 he moved to Germany, where he obtained the C1 German Certificate in 2017. During his residency, Mr. Buonfiglio deepened his knowledge of the pathophysiology of retinal and optic nerve disorders. Until 2021, he worked as a physician resident at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg, Germany. Currently, he is dedicated to his doctoral thesis, an experimental study regarding the impact of oxidative stress on the endothelial function of ocular blood vessels, and is part of the research group of Professor Adrian Gericke, Department of Ophthalmology, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany. Mr. Buonfiglio is a member of the German Ophthalmological Society.
