Muhammad Ali Butt (b. 1985) received a Ph.D. degree in material
sciences from Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Spain, in 2015. In 2013, he made a
research stay with the Optoelectronic Research Centre (ORC), University of
Southampton, U.K. In 2018, he was a research assistant professor at Nicolaus
Copernicus University, Poland. From 2015–2020, he worked as a senior scientist at
Samara National Research University, Russia. Currently, he works as a Research
team leader at the Warsaw University of Technology, Poland. He has authored 150+ scientific
publications and several book chapters. He received a Rector’s award in 2022
for his scientific contribution to the Warsaw University of Technology. His
research interests are optical waveguides, plasmonic sensors, photonic sensors,
diffractive optics, and optical filters.
