Author Biographies

Michal Prauzek was born in Ostrava, Czech Republic, in 1983. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Control and Information Systems in 2006, a master's degree in Measurement and Control Systems in 2008, and a PhD in Technical Cybernetics in 2011 at VSB -- Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. He has worked at the university's Department of Cybernetics and Biomedical Engineering since 2010 and is currently an associate professor. He also worked as a research postdoc fellow at the University of Alberta, Canada, from 2013 to 2014. He has authored more than 90 articles and conference papers and has 8 registered inventions. His research areas include embedded systems, data and signal analysis, control design, and machine learning. He is an IEEE senior member active in the Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society and the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society.
Tereza Kucova is a PhD student of Cybernetics and a researcher at the Department of Cybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, VSB -- Technical University of Ostrava. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in biomedical technology and a master's degree in biomedical engineering. She has co-authored several articles published in journals and conference proceedings. Her research areas are embedded systems, machine learning approaches, and environmental monitoring systems. She is also a part of a research team for national and international projects focused on machine learning and smart energy management in Internet-of-Things technologies.
Jaromir Konecny was born in Frydek-Mistek, Czech Republic, in 1986. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Control and Information Systems in 2008, a master's degree in Measurement and Control Engineering in 2010, and a PhD in Technical Cybernetics in 2014. He has worked at the Department of Cybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, VSB -- Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic, since 2012 and is currently an associate professor. He has authored more than 50 articles and conference papers and has 4 registered inventions. His research areas include embedded systems, electronics, environmental monitoring systems, and localization systems in robotics. He is an IEEE member active in the Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society, the Computational Intelligence Society, and Internet of Things Community.
Monika Adamikova was born in Ostrava, Czech Republic, in 1993. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Biomedical technology in 2015, a master's degree in Biomedical engineering in 2017, and a PhD in Technical Cybernetics in 2023 from VSB -- Technical University of Ostrava. She has co-authored conference papers and articles published in journals mainly in the field of embedded systems, IoT, and environmental monitoring systems. She also participates in Czech and international projects.
Karolina Gaiova is a PhD student of Cybernetics and a researcher at the Department of Cybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, VSB -- Technical University of Ostrava. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in biomedical technology and a master's degree in biomedical engineering. Her research areas are energy harvesting from alternative sources, energy storage, IoT system topologies, and environmental wireless sensor networks. She has co-authored conference papers and articles published in journals mainly in the fields of embedded systems and IoT and environmental monitoring systems. She also participates in Czech and international projects.

Jiri Koziorek is a full professor in Cybernetics at VSB -- Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. He has been working at the Department of Cybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, VSB--TUO, since 1998. Since 2009, he has been head of the department. His research interests cover industrial automation, control system design, industrial communications, digitization of industry and sensors. His pedagogical practice relates to his research areas. He is the coordinator of several national and international research projects, typically in cooperation with industrial partners. He is the author/co-author of more than 100 scientific publications.
