Author Biographies

Dr. Annamaria la Torre is a Senior Biologist in the Laboratory of Gerontology and Geriatrics at the Foundation IRCCS “Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza”, San Giovanni Rotondo (Italy). Specialized in Clinical Pathology, her skills encompass from molecular and cell biology to manipulation in Clean Room of human neural stem cells for experimental clinical trials, in compliance with the European Directive 2001/83/CE. Her research studies were mainly focused on investigating the genetic and epigenetic biomarkers in oncology. She is currently involved in research activities on neurodegenerative disorders, with particular attention to Alzheimer’s Disease and she is in charge of supervising the molecular testing in patients suffering from neurodegenerative diseases.
Dr. Filomena Lo Vecchio is a younger researcher in the Laboratory of Gerontology and Geriatrics at the Foundation IRCCS “Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza”, San Giovanni Rotondo (Italy). Her professional experiences are based on neurodegenerative diseases studies. She carried out experiments for characterizing extracellular vescicles isolated from plasma of sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients. Currently, she performs testing on inherited genetic disorders and neurodegenerative diseases.
Dr. Antonio Greco is currently Medical Director at the Geriatric Department and Research Laboratory, and Medical Director of Intensive Care Unit at the IRCCS "Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza" in San Giovanni Rotondo (Italy). Specialized in Geriatrics, Internal Medicine and in Geriatric Cardiology, he is involved in many projects from regional to national and European level in the area of digital transformation of healthcare and novel approaches to tacke societal challenges, with particular attention to the elderly.
