About the event
The Forum for Open Research in MENA (FORM) is a premier event for researchers, librarians, and policymakers to discuss and advance open science policies and practices in the Arab world. The forum supports the region's transition to more accessible, sustainable, and inclusive research and education models. The theme for this year's forum is "Becoming Open: Capacity Building and Community Collaboration in the Arab World," in alignment with the UAE's "Year of Community".
When?
The forum will take place from October 20–23, 2025.
Where?
The event will be held at the American University of Sharjah, in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates
What to expect?
The 4th Annual Forum will feature a hybrid format with in-person and live-streamed sessions in both English and Arabic. With 26 sessions delivered by 88 speakers from 60 institutions, attendees can expect to engage with a comprehensive program, including:
Keynote Speeches: Insights from distinguished experts such as Dr. Emily Choynowski and many others
Panel Discussions and Roundtables: Sessions will cover topics such as open access policies, community building, and investing in open science infrastructure, including a dedicated UAE Leadership Panel.
