Youth, Volume 5, Issue 3

September 2025 - 39 articles

Cover Story: This article examines whether young people in Canada are having a positive social and environmental impact through their participation in youth service programs. By studying six programs across three national organizations, it identifies a range of strategies, from direct community action to system change that young people may use to achieve impact. The paper proposes a framework to assess youth-led impact and considers how youth service programs might more effectively ensure that their programs result in positive social and environmental benefit, a stated goal of these programs, while at the same time supporting young people’s skill development. View this paper
