Cover Story: We investigated the association of prenatal co-exposure to organochlorines and metals with cognitive flexibility among a diverse group of adolescents living near a Superfund site in Massachusetts. We observed adverse associations of the chemical mixture and manganese with the Delis Kaplan Executive Function System Trail-Making and Color-Word Interference measures of cognitive flexibility. This study is among the first to provide evidence of an adverse association of prenatal exposure to a chemical mixture with cognitive flexibility in adolescence, a time of substantial executive function development.
