Cerebellar Tuberculoma as a Rare Manifestation of Central Nervous System Tuberculosis: Literature Review and Clinical Case
Abstract
1. Global Burden of Pediatric Tuberculosis
2. Central Nervous System Tuberculosis in Children
3. Clinical Case
3.1. Surgical Procedure Description
Histological Examination of the Resected Lesion Revealed
4. Discussion and Pediatric Implications
4.1. Pathogenesis and Clinical Presentation
4.2. Diagnostic Challenges
- Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) may show restricted diffusion; however, this is typically less intense than in pyogenic abscesses, assisting in differential diagnosis [28].
- Granulomatous inflammation with epithelioid histiocytes;
- Langhans-type multinucleated giant cells;
- Central caseous necrosis;
- Variable detection of acid-fast bacilli on Ziehl–Neelsen staining.
