Cover Story: Human activities generate disturbances responsible for habitat degradation and decline. The methodologies used to assess anthropogenic impacts are broad and context-specific, but they all share the goal of understanding the impacts of human activities on the environment and providing spatially explicit knowledge critical to making informed decisions that promote ecosystem health and the provision of their services. The objective of this study is to assess how human activities can interact with the conservation objectives of an alpine protected area and to provide an easily replicable methodology that can be configured as a useful management tool, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses.
