Dentistry, Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine
A section of Journal of Clinical Medicine (ISSN 2077-0383).
Section Information
Stomatology is a growing branch of medical sciences that is gaining prevalence in the scientific community. Oral pathologies are very common in the general population, and remain an issue in the pediatric and elder population. Oral infectious and inflammatory diseases are the most common pathologies worldwide, and they impact upon general health, wellbeing, and mortality. Current research in stomatology aims to achieve significant inroads into understanding cell and tissue pathobiology, allowing knowledge to be translated into novel treatments. Nevertheless, the association between basic sciences, biomedical engineering, nanotechnologies, and novel materials are changing the ways in which we approach oral healthcare.
This section of JCM aims to publish articles on top-quality and well-designed studies in stomatology and its related topics, taking into high consideration the translational and clinical aspects of the addressed subject. Clinical aspects and/or applications of in vitro and ex vivo studies will be given priority: any accounts of basic research must also address clinical significance.
The section Stomatology strives to host only high-level original research articles and systematic reviews: no salami-slicing papers, no case-reports/case-series, no preliminary data, opinions, hypotheses, or other types of minor reports will be considered for peer review. Narrative reviews are typically invited—authors are discouraged from spontaneously submitting narrative reviews unless they are well written and on a topic of interest to the scientific community.
