Comments and Suggestions for Authors

To the authors of the article "Temporal Variations in Land Surface Temperature within an 2 Urban Ecosystem: A Comprehensive Assessment of Land Use 3 and Land Cover Change in Kharkiv, Ukraine"

This article is very interesting and well written. althought I have some observations that should be adressed before it can be published:

Introduction:

The introduction is not well structured and sometimes tedious to read. I suggest to eliminate all the abbreviations (are at least most of it), because if not, the article is impossible to understand (one has to go back and forward all the time). example, a sentence as: "..: analyze correlations between SUHI values and environmental factors (LST, Tair, urbanization, and vegetation), and identify temporal trends in SUHI, to understand how significant LULC changes contribute to increases in LST and intensify UHI effects, leading to SUHI phenomena." is impossible to understand. Leave only very commonly used abbreviations (examples NDVI).

Also, the introduction should be better divided in paragraphs (one idea per paragraph).

The objectives should indicate that you are working on one city.

Materials and methods:

The description of the study area should be shortened (at leas to half of its current extension).

The method and results sections are much too long. I understand that you did a lot of things, but, you should only describe the ones you discuss in the discussion section and erase everything else. So, a carefull review is needed to eliminiate all the parts that you don't need in order to get to your point in the discussion section. According to this, also, the corresponding tables and figures should be eliminated.

Minor comments can be found in the pdf file.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Review comments on manuscript submission ID: remotesensing-2940901

This manuscript briefly presents about " Temporal Variations in Land Surface Temperature within an Urban Ecosystem: A Comprehensive Assessment of Land Use and Land Cover Change in Kharkiv, Ukraine”: In my view, the title of the manuscript is precise and clear, abstract well explained and results clearly presented and discussed. Hence, this manuscript needs minor editorial improvement to be published in the journal of Remote Sensing.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

1"Modis" should be changed to "MODIS" (L41, L284, L336, etc.).

2The explanation of formula (2) is somewhat confusing. Is it that 𝑁𝐷𝑉𝐼min equals 0.2, 𝑁𝐷𝑉𝐼max equals 0.86, or are the threshold values for pv 0.2 and 0.86?

3This study investigated several significant geographical and climatic characteristics of Kharkiv. How do these features compare with those of typical cities that have been studied domestically and globally (such as Munich, Germany; Shanghai, China; and Tokyo, Japan, as mentioned in the introduction)? I believe readers would be very interested in learning about these comparisons.

Comments on the Quality of English Language

Overall, the English expression is generally acceptable, but there are also a few minor errors. It is necessary to check your manuscript for grammar, style, and syntax throughout the document.
