This statement, from the introduction to Shannon Craigo-Snell's The Empty Church: Theater, Theology, and Bodily Hope (Oxford, 2014) could be something of a "motto" for the 2017 Conference on Sermon Studies. This year's theme is "Sermon: Text and Performance"; we welcome proposals examining sermons of all faiths from a variety of disciplinary perspectives.
