Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This special issue titled “Measuring Scholarly Communication” is open to contributions on assessing and measuring scholarly publications, presentations and other formal and informal modes of interaction, including but not limited to electronic formats, within the scientific community. The notion of the “invisible college” as defined by Solla Price in the early 1960s might have remained the same at its core; however, scientists’ communication and collaboration patterns might have changed, we presume, drastically with the development of electronic channels. Therefore, this issue has been established to welcome research exploring and presenting methods and results that will enlighten the difficult road and task of going beyond the established and traditional appraising of scholarly communication.
