Special Issue "Epigenetics and Personalized Medicine"
A special issue of Journal of Personalized Medicine (ISSN 2075-4426).
Deadline for manuscript submissions: closed (30 May 2013)
Personalized Medicine promises to revolutionize future healthcare and is already successfully used for treatment of some cancers. Cancer is particularly well suited for this approach and leading the way as it is essentially a disease of the genome, resulting in many mutations and epimutations that can be used to stratify patients for personalized treatment. Although epimutations (such as altered DNA methylation) occur often more frequently than mutations, their use in Personalized Medicine is currently less well established. Driven by new technologies, however, the use of epigenetics is advancing rapidly and this special issue will highlight some of the latest developments in Epigenetics for Personalized Medicine.
