Construction Research Conference 2012

The theme of this conference is "Construction Challenges in a Flat World". Construction projects are very complex undertakings that are impacted by global economic, political, and environmental challenge. Globalization, climate change, international economic crises and civil unrest, have impacted construction in many direct and indirect ways. The sensitivity that the construction industry has demonstrated towards changes in the global economic, political, and environmental conditions makes management of construction projects an even more challenging process. There are many interactions between stakeholders that are very complex, interrelated, and truly global in nature. The management of these undertakings needs to be done with the view that the world is truly flat. This view of construction management necessitates the creation of transformative tools and methods to address the challenges created by the global nature of today's construction industry and to adapt to the rapidly evolving global and local conditions.
