AHVLA International Conference 2011 - Animal Diseases and their Consequences

We are pleased to announce that Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency (AHVLA) is hosting an international veterinary conference, Animal Diseases and their Consequences in September 2011.

The conference will be held from Tuesday 13 September to Thursday 15 September at Royal Holloway, University of London, Surrey.

AHVLA was formally created on 1 April 2011 following the merger of Animal Health and the Veterinary Laboratories Agency. The new agency will continue to work with the livestock sector to reduce the risk and impact of animal diseases and play a key role in the delivery of world class science.

We have invited a number of VIPs to the conference and we are expecting around 300 delegates to attend.  These will include around 150 AHVLA scientists, as well as over 150 delegates from national and international government departments, veterinary institutes and professional bodies.

The three-day conference programme will include the Med-Vet-Net Association International Conference on Zoonoses and sessions on a range of veterinary topics of interest to international delegates in the fields of public and animal health.  These include sessions on ‘Contagious Equine Metritis’, ‘International Reference Laboratories - Shaping International Disease Control’, ‘Horizon Scanning for Public and Animal Health’, BSE – a quarter of century on’ and ‘Different National Approaches to the Organisation of Animal Health Services’.

The conference programme will also include a trade exhibition giving companies the opportunity to meet delegates, many of whom will be involved in the purchasing of equipment and services in their organisations.
