Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Climate change is a serious environmental, social and economic global challenge. Climate change impacts, such as variations in temperature, intense floods, and alarming droughts, have become frequent. The impacts are more concerned in south Asia due to varied geological, geomorphological, meteorological, sociological and cultural aspects. There is an ardent need to plan and adopt strategies to mitigate the impacts on natural system for well-being of the ever-growing population. Climate-smart agriculture seeks to achieve short-term and long-term agricultural development priorities by resorting to climate resilient practices using Technological advances. This necessitates elaborate discussions on the issues concerned and to arrive at plausible solutions.

This Special Issue welcomes innovative approaches to support human development and resilience (including health, nutrition, and equity) and the maintenance of biological diversity and ecosystem services. Of interest are original investigations of climate science, mitigation of and adaptation to climate change, as well as integrations of science, policy, and action for broad-based, sustainable improvements in living standards.

Potential topics include: Global and regional causes and impacts of climate change affecting the developing world; interaction of climate, biodiversity, land use, and socioeconomic organization; improvements in weather, climate, and hazard forecasting, including monsoon prediction and decision support systems; providing climate services and disseminating climate information to stakeholders; water resource management, including modeling, impact assessment, governance, sustainable irrigation, mitigating water-related health risks and disasters; agriculture and livestock modeling, impact assessment, vulnerability analysis, strategies for resilience; climate and health; climate and gender; climate resilience for disempowered and marginalized people and groups.
