COMS 2010: Commercialization of Micro-Nano Systems
29 August 2010 to 2 September 2010
Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA

The Micro and Nanotechnology Commercialization Education Foundation, MANCEF, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Commercialization of Micro-Nano Systems Conference (COMS) in New Mexico. COMS 2000 was a seminal event for New Mexico Small Tech, and COMS 2010 will once again put the global spotlight on New Mexico’s high tech expertise and potential. Numerous dignitaries will be attending, including Dr. Alton (Al) D. Romig, Jr., Executive Vice President, Deputy Laboratories Director, and Chief Operating Officer, Sandia National Laboratories, US State Senator for New Mexico, Jeff Bingaman, and State Senator Stephen H. Fischmann. As well as these representatives directly involved in Science & Technology, COMS 2010 will also offer unparalleled access to numerous Sandia National Lab specialists.

The 15th annual COMS conference includes an extraordinary list of keynote and plenary speakers. From Dr. Seamus Curran of the University of Houston, a world leader in Solar Energy & MNT, to Hao Li of Motorola, who will discuss The Development of Ultimate Touch – Touch Screen Enabled by Nano Technology. Mostafa Analoui, Head of Healthcare and Life Science of Livingston Securities will present on NanoMedicine: Current State of Global R&D, Investment, and Future Outlook. Jean Christophe Eloy from Yole Développement will share Market Research & Strategy and Volker Saile of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) will chair a session on the Current status of HARMST/LIGA, as well as Equipment & Processes. The COMS conference brings together the worlds best minds with expertise relating to the commercialization of small technologies.

Additional highlights of the wide ranging technical program include: Aerospace & Defense, Electronics & Microsystems, Energy & Environment, Fabrication, Characterization & Tools, Medical & Biotech, MNT Economic Development, Product & Market Development. Sessions include Printable Nano Electronics, MNT & Clean Tech Solutions, MNT Alternative Energy, MicroFluidics, Equipment and Processes, Nano and Metals, Minerals, & Materials, Sensors and Sensor Systems, MNT & Emerging Applications, Packaging and System Design, Aerospace & Unmanned Systems and many more. Visit http://www.mancef.org/COMS for a complete program and for more information. COMS 2010 will also offer numerous Workshops including High Tech Entrepreneurship, Standards & Roadmapping, MEMS CAD Design, Strategic IP Management, Understanding Small Technology and the Future of HARMST/LIGA.

As always, COMS will provide an intimate atmosphere with unparalleled networking opportunities. Business development & the creation of partnerships are the goal of the COMS conference – the Vendor’s Reception, Annual COMS Golf Tournament & the Route 66 Themed Awards Dinner will foster an environment where networking comes easy.

Eurosensors XXIV
5 September 2010 to 8 September 2010
Linz, Austria

The EUROSENSORS series of conferences were established in 1987 representing the major European forum to cover the entire field of sensors, actuators, and microsystems. The Eurosensors conferences provide an excellent opportunity to bring together European scientists and engineers from academia, research institutes and companies to present and discuss the latest results in the general field of solid-state sensors, actuators, micro- and nanosystems.

16th International Workshop on Thermal investigations of ICs and Systems
6 October 2010 to 8 October 2010
Barcelona, Spain

THERMINIC Workshops are a series of events to discuss the essential thermal questions of microelectronic microstructures and electronic parts in general. These questions are becoming more and more crucial with the increasing element density of circuits packaged together and with the move to nanotechnology. These trends are calling for thermal simulation, monitoring and cooling. Thermal management is expected to become an increasingly dominating factor of a system’s cost. The growing power dissipated in a package, the mobile parts of microsystems raise new thermal problems to be solved in the near future necessitating the regular discussion of the experts in these fields. Finally, there is an increasing need for accurate assessment of the boundary conditions used in the analysis of electronic parts, which requires a concurrent solution of the thermal behaviour of the whole system. This year THERMINIC will address in addition to the “traditional” thermal management problems, also stress and thermal-stress-related-reliability issues, both in micro- and opto-electronics fields. These issues, including various nanotechnology applications, are of significant importance and of high interest to the engineering community engaged in the field of thermal phenomena in “high-tech” systems.
