MDPI was founded in 1996 in Basel, Switzerland. The original mission of MDPI is to preserve, share and exchange historically significant research chemical samples throughout the world, and make the samples readily available to other professionals. MDPI has developed into scientific publishing since its inception. MDPI AG is now publishing more than 40 peer-reviewed international open access journals, including Sensors (ISSN 1424-8239), Molecules (ISSN 1420-3049) and the IJMS (ISSN 1422-0067), which were among the first online, open access journals in natural sciences and engineering. The MDPI China branch was founded in Beijing in 2008, and registered under the name of Doubu (Beijing) Technology Service Company Ltd. Currently we have offices in the Haidian and Tongzhou districts of Beijing.

We are currently enrolling a candidate for a full-time position as Assistant Editor in our office in Haidian District, Beijing.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Receive and register manuscripts
  • Organize and manage peer-review process
  • Answer phone and e-mail inquiries about status of manuscripts
  • Communicate with external editors regarding acceptance or revisions of manuscripts
  • Request revisions from authors
  • Produce final versions for publication
  • Generate status reports and simple statistics, as requested
  • Maintain records of correspondences
  • Help to maintain the editorial boards of the journals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor, Master or PhD degree required
  • Proficient command of both spoken and written English (CET 6 or above)
  • Previous experience in academic journal editing or management is desirable
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to handle detailed work
  • Ability to communicate with, and respond to customers and other employees in a professional, clear, and understandable manner
  • Organizational and computer (E-Mail, Internet, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel) skills needed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is desired.
