Marketing and Communications Manager (100%)
MDPI is an international, scientific publisher of open access journals. It publishes over 150 journals across all subject areas, including chemistry, engineering, life sciences and social sciences. MDPI has its headquarters in Basel, Switzerland along with 400 staff in Beijing and Wuhan, China, and a further office recently opened in Barcelona, Spain. We currently have a vacancy for a full-time manager of the Marketing and Communications department, based in the Basel office.
Leadership, management and development of the Marketing and Communications department
Development of marketing strategy in alignment with the MDPI’s corporate strategy
Responsibility for internal and external communication, including media and public relations
Management of the Swiss, Chinese and Spanish marketing teams
Responsibility for content and editing of marketing and other materials, including blogs, brochures, newsletters and social media content
Oversight of promotional mailings
Oversight of externally sponsored conferences and events
Collection and analysis of customer feedback
A Master’s degree, or equivalent qualification, in communication and marketing
3–5 year’s experience in communication and marketing (experience in a scientific or publishing context would be an advantage)
Excellent level of English
Able to work in a multicultural environment
Familiarity with the Adobe Create Suite (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator)
Familiarity with HTML/CSS

Part-time Student for IT Support (50%)
For our headquarters in Basel we are looking for a student in IT to work part-time next to his/her studies. You will be part of a small, international and dynamic team of software engineers and work on exciting projects, e.g. business applications, workflow (process) applications, mobile applications or document and conversion applications. You are interested in the newest mobile and web technologies and you are a positive person with the attitude to perform higher-than-average.
You should be available to work full-time on Mondays and Tuesdays.
- Daily IT support tasks (new employee setup, computer maintenance, etc.)
- PHP software development, maintenance and bug fixing
- IT student, at least in the 3rd semester of the Bachelor studies
- Flair for technology
- Experience with PHP, MySQL
- Experience with Linux/UNIX and Apache or Nginx a plus
- Eye for detail, precise and competent method of working
- Good English knowledge written and spoken
