Abstract: From time to time, the Publisher and the Editor-in-Chief of MolBank are asked the question: “what is the purpose of publishing a journal like MolBank?” We think that the start of a new year is a good opportunity to make the ideas behind such a journal as clear as possible to our readers, authors and reviewers.
